The exhibition “NATURE AND SACREDNESS” by Efthymios Warlamis opened with great success at the VATI art gallery, in Ermoupolis.
The exhibition was organized by the Catholic Diocese of Syros and the support of the Association of Greek Catholics of Syros, in collaboration with the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupolis, while the curator was the Piramatiko Ergastiri Verginas
In the crowded hall, visitors had the opportunity not only to see an exhibition of paintings, but to experience the artist’s effort to move and bring awareness of the necessity of respecting Nature, as a necessary condition for our survival and well-being, through his works.
The selection of works from various collections of the artist, the special music by musician Nikos Roussos, and the special direction created a special atmosphere..
Archbishop Sebastianos, in his address, said:
…
“The paintings of Warlamis, not only remind us of our duty as people and especially as believers, to protect the environment, but also to act together with nature, learning from nature and helping humanity to protect itself from visible dangers. Only in this way, what we call “CIVILIZATION”, will we be able to enjoy it for hundreds or even thousands of centuries to come.”
And the mayor Alexis Athanasiou, admiring the work of the late artist, said in his greeting:
“A great artistic and spiritual exhibition with the special works of Makis Warlamis and with their special theological language.”
The curator of the exhibition, Pavlos Trochopoulos, announced that the next step is to present the exhibition in Athens and then to transport it to the Vatican, where it will be accompanied by the authorities of Syros.
A special tour for children has also been planned and school groups on the island have already expressed their desire to visit the exhibition, with the aim of introducing children to the work of M. Warlamis through this original and interesting presentation of his work in Syros.
The exhibition is under the auspices of the Ministries of Shipping and Energy, while sponsors are “AEGEAS”, the KOMNINOS FOUNDATION and BLUESTAR FERRIES. The communication sponsor is ERT3, the opening photos were taken by Mr. Dimitrios Vamvakousis and the organization of the press office was supported by Ms. Angeliki Nomikou (PEAR).
