In a moving event, the city of Alexandria welcomed with all honors the collection of the late Warlamis on the theme of Alexander the Great.

In a packed amphitheater, the Egyptians, the Greek diaspora and the excursionists from Greece experienced a special day. The management of the Library of Alexandria, through a program lasting approximately 3 hours, kept the audience tense and interested.

The director of the Library, Dr. Zayed, the Governor of Alexandria Ahmed Khalled Hassan Said, the Ambassador of Greece in Cairo, Mr. Nikolaos Papageorgiou, the archaeologist Dr. Kalliopi Papakosta and the representative of the Vergina Experimental Laboratory Pavlos Trochopoulos, delivered brief greetings, followed by a round table with the coordinator of Prof. Mona Hagak, president of the Archaeological Society of Alexandria, and speakers Mrs. Sofia Avgerinou, professor emeritus of the Polytechnic University, Dr. Kalliopi Papakosta archaeologist and Prof. Mohamed. El Ghani, professor of Greco-Roman Civilization at the University of Alexandria, where each of them revealed the timeless relationship between Egyptian and Greek Civilization with Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic times as a point of reference.

Then the dance group of the Vegina cultural association “AIGES”, with the primordial sounds of the zurna and the daouli, danced in the large foyer of the LIBRARY, spreading emotion among the Greeks and enthusiasm among the Egyptians who confessed that for the first time in the 15-year history of the new Library they had experienced something similar.

Then the Governor of Alexandria, the director of the Library and the Greek Ambassador held the inauguration and a grand reception followed.

On the evening of the same day in the historic Greek Community, Greeks and Egyptians danced together to Macedonian sounds in an unforgettable evening. The President of the Community, Mr. Nikolaos Vafeiadis, moved, wished that Greece would continue to support the remaining Hellenism of Alexandria with such great events. The exhibition will last until the end of January.
